SANTO DOMINGO, República Dominicana.– El Ministerio Público dijo que solicitará contra los propietarios de la discoteca Jetset la pena máxima establecida por la ley relativa a homicidio involuntario y golpes y heridas involuntarias.
El procurador adjunto Wilson Camacho, titular de la Dirección General de Persecución del Ministerio Público, indicó que la solicitud se hará contra Antonio y Maribel Espaillat, luego de que el Primer Juzgado de la Instrucción del Distrito Nacional acogiera en todas sus partes la acusación presentada por el órgano persecutor por el colapso del techo de la discoteca Jet Set, tragedia que dejó 236 personas fallecidas y más de 180 heridas.
Tras concluir este lunes la audiencia encabezada por el juez Raymundo Mejía Ortiz, el representante del órgano acusador dijo que los fiscales concentrarán sus esfuerzos en el juicio de fondo para lograr “la imposición de la sanción más severa contemplada para este tipo de delitos”.
Calificó como “ajustada a derecho” la decisión del tribunal de enviar a juicio a los imputados por presunta violación de los artículos 319 y 320 del Código Penal Dominicano.
«El tribunal ha acogido de manera total la acusación del Ministerio Público, y no solo del Ministerio Público, sino de 42 de los 54 querellantes que se adhirieron a la acusación», expresó.
INMOVILIZACIÓN DE RD$500 MILLONES
Destacó que el tribunal dispuso medidas destinadas a garantizar una eventual reparación a las víctimas del caso.»El juez impuso como medida de coerción real la inmovilización por 500 millones de pesos, de forma tal que las víctimas tengan la seguridad de que sus derechos puedan ser resarcidos mientras se conoce este proceso», sostuvo Camacho.
El funcionario recordó el profundo impacto humano y social provocado por el desplome del establecimiento de entretenimiento.
«No existen palabras para describir el dolor que provocó a las víctimas directas y el dolor que causó en el centro del alma del pueblo dominicano», manifestó.
Camacho afirmó que, desde el inicio de la investigación, el Ministerio Público ha agotado todas las diligencias permitidas por la ley, incluyendo la realización de un peritaje especializado con la participación de un experto internacional para determinar las causas del siniestro.
ACTOS DE NEGLIGENCIA E IMPRUDENCIA
En relación con el informe pericial presentado por la defensa de los imputados, aseguró que dicho documento también concluye que existieron actos de negligencia e imprudencia.
«Ambos peritajes dicen que la culpa de que se produjera el colapso del Jet Set fue de ambos acusados y ahora vamos al juicio a procurar que paguen por los hechos que cometieron», enfatizó.
La decisión judicial admite los hechos contenidos en la acusación así como las pruebas testimoniales, documentales, materiales y periciales presentadas por el Ministerio Público.
SE MANTIENEN MEDIDAS DE COERCIÓN
De igual manera, el tribunal mantiene las medidas de coerción impuestas a Antonio y Maribel Espaillat, consistentes en una garantía económica de 50 millones de pesos para cada uno, impedimento de salida del país y presentación periódica ante las autoridades.
El juez también admitió como terceros civilmente demandados a las entidades Difusora Hemisferio, S.R.L., Inversiones CCEP-2, S.A., así como a Evelyn Espaillat y Ana Grecia López, cuyas pruebas serán conocidas conjuntamente con la acusación principal durante el juicio.
Además, ordenó trabar embargo conservatorio e inscribir hipoteca judicial sobre bienes muebles y activos por un monto de RD$500 millones contra Antonio Espaillat López, Maribel Espaillat de Beras, Evelyn Espaillat y Ana Grecia López. La medida también abarca los activos y valores de las empresas Inversiones E y L, S.R.L., Radiocadena Comercial, S.R.L., Difusora Hemisferio, S.R.L. e Inversiones CCEP-2, S.A.
UNA DE LAS TRAGEDIAS MÁS DOLOROSAS
El colapso del techo de la discoteca Jet Set, ubicada en la avenida Independencia, en el sector El Portal del Distrito Nacional, ocurrió la noche del 8 de abril de 2025, convirtiéndose en una de las tragedias más dolorosas registradas en la historia reciente de la República Dominicana.
