SANTO DOMINGO.– El Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD) reafirmó su compromiso con la igualdad de derechos y el empoderamiento femenino durante un acto celebrado en su Casa Nacional con motivo del Día Internacional de la Mujer.
En el acto se destacó la importancia de la participación activa de las mujeres en la vida política y social del país.
La actividad conmemorativa fue encabezada por el presidente del partido, Miguel Vargas Maldonado; la secretaria general, Peggy Cabral de Peña Gómez; el presidente ejecutivo del PRD, Héctor Guzmán, y la presidenta de la Federación Dominicana de Mujeres Socialdemócratas (Fedomusde), Amancia de la Cruz, y participaron decenas de mujeres dirigentes perredeístas de distintas partes el país.
Durante su intervención, Amancia de la Cruz expresó que la conmemoración del 8 de marzo representa no solo una celebración, sino también un llamado a la reflexión sobre los avances y desafíos que aún enfrentan las mujeres en la lucha por la igualdad.
“La mujer no solo participa en política, la mujer transforma la política”, afirmó, al subrayar que la presencia femenina en los espacios de poder es una necesidad para fortalecer la democracia y garantizar decisiones públicas más justas e inclusivas.
La dirigente explicó que el Día Internacional de la Mujer simboliza décadas de lucha por derechos fundamentales como la igualdad salarial, el acceso a la educación, la participación política y la erradicación de la violencia de género, conquistas que han sido impulsadas por mujeres en todo el mundo.
