Un envalentonado Irán mantiene el pulso a Estados Unidos con su negativa a reabrir el estrecho de Ormuz y de hecho parece prepararse para un largo conflicto tras la renovación de la cúpula militar por parte del actual líder supremo, Mojtaba Jameneí, quien comienza a perfilar su visión de la República Islámica.
Tras casi seis meses de guerra y más de 13,000 bombardeos, la República Islámica se permite exigir condiciones a EE. UU. para reabrir el tránsito de buques en la crucial vía marítima por la que pasaba el 20 % del crudo mundial antes del comienzo del conflicto el 28 de febrero.
Teherán exige que Washington levante el bloqueo naval a sus puertos y buques, elimine la prohibición de la venta de petróleo, libere activos bloqueados, compense los daños provocados, el cese de operaciones militares contra el país y sus aliados y la retirada de las fuerzas estadounidenses desplegadas en torno a la República Islámica.
Presión de EE. UU.
Mientras tanto, el presidente de EE. UU., Donald Trump, se mueve entre los ataques contra el territorio iraní de las últimas semanas, ahora detenidos, y la presión económica, una estrategia que no parece hacer mella en la posición de Teherán.
Para Danny Citrinowicz, investigador del programa iraní del Instituto de Estudios de Seguridad Nacional de Israel (INSS), "a medida que pasa el tiempo, Teherán parece cada vez más convencido de que la presión se está desplazando hacia Washington".
El experto, que además fue oficial de inteligencia israelí, afirmó en X que las exigencias iraníes agudizan las difíciles opciones a las que se enfrenta Trump.
"Aceptar una parte sustancial de las condiciones de Teherán para poner fin a la crisis, o escalar militarmente y arriesgarse a pagar un elevado precio económico y estratégico, sin garantía alguna de que una presión adicional obligue a Irán a capitular o incluso a volver a las negociaciones desde una posición más débil", explicó en sus redes sociales.
Tras los 13 días consecutivos de bombardeos en julio en la costa sur iraní, Trump dio a entender el domingo que detenía los ataques y optaba por la presión económica. "Simplemente estamos observando a Irán, con su enorme inflación y el hecho de que no tienen dinero", dijo el mandatario al medio estadounidense Axios.
Para Citrinowicz esto es "una ilusión" y una República Islámica que lleva décadas sometida a sanciones económicas no se rendirá ante nuevas presiones financieras.
Renovación de la cúpula militar y de seguridad
De hecho las decisiones que se toman en Teherán apuntan a que la República Islámica se está preparando para un largo conflicto y no está dispuesta a ceder.
Jameneí, quien fue nombrado líder supremo el 8 de marzo tras el asesinato de su padre y a quien no se ha visto en público desde entonces, ha renovado la cúpula militar y de seguridad del país persa con el nombramiento de siete altos cargos en una centralización del mando castrense.
Así, el veterano ultraconservador comandante de la Guardia Revolucionaria Mohsen Rezaei dirigirá a sus 71 años el Consejo Supremo de Seguridad Nacional, órgano responsable de definir las políticas de defensa, nucleares y de exterior. Ya estuvo en el cargo de la Guardia Revolucionaria durante la guerra Irán-Irak de los años 80.
Ali Abdolahi será el nuevo jefe del Estado Mayor de las Fuerzas Armadas y Ahmad Vahidi asumirá la jefatura de la poderosa Guardia Revolucionaria, entre otros nombramientos.
Jameneí explicó en sus redes que los nombramientos buscan integrar los diferentes cuerpos de las Fuerzas Armadas e incrementar la capacidad de defensa ante las amenazas "contra el sistema sagrado de la República Islámica de Irán".
Pero también ordenó que la Guardia Revolucionaria se prepare para el lanzamiento de "potentes operaciones ofensivas contra el enemigo".
Para el analista Sina Toossi del Centro de Políticas Internacionales de Washington los nombramientos de Jameneí parecen "un intento de institucionalizar las lecciones de la guerra y preparar a Irán para un enfrentamiento prolongado, en lugar de salir de la situación de guerra".
El experto añadió en una publicación en X que los nombramientos indican que Jameneí "está empezando a implantar su propia estructura" de seguridad ante "la expectativa de que el conflicto continúe".
