KIEV, 23 Jul.- El presidente de Ucrania, Volodimir Zelenski, ha anunciado este jueves un acuerdo de colaboración con la contratista de defensa estadounidense Raytheon para fabricar misiles Patriot después de lograr hace unos días que Washington finalmente accediera a conceder las licencias oportunas para desarrollarlos por su cuenta.
«Raytheon es una empresa de defensa muy sólida, y Ucrania lleva mucho tiempo utilizando sus equipos para proteger a nuestra población de los brutales ataques rusos», ha hecho saber Zelenski a través de un mensaje en redes sociales.
Zelenski, que ha estado meses solicitando a sus socios este tipo de armamento y a Estados Unidos que les permitieran fabricarlos en su territorio, ha agradecido a Raytheon su disposición a llevar su relación con Ucrania «a un nivel mayor», con la fabricación de «uno de los activos de defensa aérea más importantes».
«Nuestros equipos, tanto del gobierno como del sector privado, se pondrán en contacto para ultimar todos los detalles», ha señalado Zelenski.
TRUMP ANUNCIÓ «LUZ VERDE»
El acuerdo llega dos semanas después de que el presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, anunciara en la última cumbre de la OTAN que se celebró en Ankara, la capital de Turquía, que daba ‘luz verde’ a Ucrania para fabricar este arsenal en su territorio, en un momento el que el Ejército ucraniano ha tenido bastantes dificultades para equipar sus sistemas de defensa aérea.
